Former Karnataka Deputy Inspector General of prisons Roopa D Moudgil, who alleged that AIADMK leader VK Sasikala received preferential treatment in Bengaluru central prison by paying a bribe, met actor Kamal Haasan recently.
The meeting assumes significance as Kamal Haasan recently announced his entry into politics and in a series of tweets alleged the ruling government and the Sasikala family were corrupt.
Roopa shared a picture of herself with Kamal Haasan at a literary fest in Delhi. She wrote, ‘For all my friends from Tamilnadu… when I could catch a moment with the versatile actor-director Kamal Haasan.’
Roopa was transferred as Inspector General of Police and Commissioner for traffic and road safety, Bengaluru, after she made the allegations.

Roopa alleged that Sasikala has given Rs 1 crore bribe to Karnataka Director General of Prisons (DGP) Satyanarayana Rao and another Rs 1 crore was distributed among officials, including the warden of the central ,jail where she is serving a four-year sentence in an illegal wealth case, to allow her special privileges, she said.
After Kamal Haasan made the decision to enter politics, he met chief ministers Pinarayi Vijayan (Kerala), Arvind Kejriwal (Delhi) and Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal).
