Tamil superstar Rajinikanth will announce his political entry and his party in January 2018, his brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaekwad said on Wednesday (November 29). He also said that Rajinikanth would organise a photoshoot with his fans in January in the coming year and added it is “at that time, he will make the announcement about his political entry and his party.”
On the reports that the actor is expected to announce his political entry on his birthday, December 12, Gaekwad said he would not announce any such decision on that day. “Everyone in the country loves Rajnikanth. He will do only good things for the people if he comes to politics,” Gaekwad was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Earlier, Rajinikanth had said that there is no urgency for him to enter politics right now. “There is no pressing need for a foray into politics right now,” Rajinikanth told reporters at the Chennai airport. He had also said that he will meet his fans “only after my birthday.” His brother had earlier hinted that Rajinikanth will float a political party this year.
After Kamal Haasan officially announced on November 7 that he would launch a political party, all eyes are now set on Rajinikanth who had given hits of entering politics since May 2017. “I am holding discussions over my political entry. I have not taken a decision. When I decide, I will tell you,” Rajinikanth said in June 2017.
Urging people to be ready for the war when it comes, Rajinikanth said the “system is rotten”. “The system is corrupt and we all need to work together to change it,” Rajinikanth had said.
In September, Haasan had said that he would join hands with Rajinikanth if the latter enters politics. “There are questions whether I will join hands with Rajinikanth in politics. If Rajini enters politics, I’ll join hands with him,” the actor had reportedly said.
